Case Study: Louisville State Recreation Area

Inflatables, glamping, and spray parks—oh my! In response to a demand for expanded recreational opportunities throughout the Cornhusker state, Nebraska’s Game and Parks Commission created a $35 million master plan to expand activities and amenities at four of its most popular state parks. The Venture Parks concept included a mix of conventional and innovative recreational activities—such as glamping, climbing walls, a treetops rope course and an inflatable aqua park—to appeal to traditional park visitors as well as new thrill seekers and future generations of park goers.

As part of its master plan, state officials were looking to expand their aquatics-based recreational activity offerings since access to rivers and lakes is a high priority for summertime family fun. Custom designed by Commercial Recreation Specialists (CRS), the new floating aqua park on Lake No. 2 in the Louisville State Recreation Area opened in August 2018 as the first of its kind in the Great Plains region. Made up of thrilling trampolines, climbing towers, monkey bars and more, the nearly 17,000 square-foot playground offers a totally new aquatic experience for Nebraska residents. (Scroll to continue…)
