Case Study: Tomah Aquatic Center

Tomah, Wisconsin

From sand to grand. For years, the Tomah Aquatic Center has been a staple for summer fun in the community. An existing sand area served as the primary play area for younger children. Although it was separated from the main pool, sand was still consistently tracked into the pool area.

City officials were looking ways to reinvigorate this sand area and provide a better and more engaging feature for toddlers. They worked with the Project Specialists Team at Commercial Recreation Specialists to re-purpose the existing water pumps under the sand area to create an interactive Splashpad, bringing a whole new aquatic experience to the center. For a more cohesive aquatic play experience, the fence separating the area from the main pool was removed to allow for easier entry into the space.
