Case Study: Lions Park

Mauston, Wisconsin

The City of Mauston was looking to improve aquatic recreation access in the community as part of its five year outdoor recreation enhancement project. City officials worked with Commercial Recreation Specialists (CRS) to design and install an interactive Vortex Splashpad to increase the city’s aquatic recreational offerings while providing residents with an engaging and family-friendly addition to Lions Park.

Upon the ribbon cutting ceremony and Splashpad debut, Mauston Mayor Brian McGuire thanked the Mauston Lions Club for establishing the park 40 years ago and for helping make the project possible. In addition to grants that helped fund the Splashpad, a portion of a generous donation from the late Mr. Howard Ganser, who previously donated $100,000 to the city, was used to help fund construction of the Splashpad.

The City of Mauston prides itself on its dedication to community and family.

It was important for officials to gather feedback from the community—particularly younger children—so that the Splashpad would have everything they hoped for in a water feature. The resulting Splashpad incorporates a toddler bay, teen bay and family bay along with various engaging spray features. In addition to creating the perfect summer destination the whole family can enjoy, the City of Mauston has planned to minimize operating costs by incorporating Vortex’s eco-friendly Flow-Through water distribution system. A win-win for all!
