Case Study: Labadee Luc’s

Ahoy, matey! Located in the secluded, mountainous north coast of Hispaniola, Labadee is a 260-acre wooded peninsula paradise that features sandy beaches, nature trails, ample beachside dining and a local marketplace.

As an exclusive port of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, the international cruise brand wanted to expand Labadee’s recreational attractions and truly make it a tropical paradise for visitors ashore. Commercial Recreation Specialists (CRS) collaborated directly with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and the Coca Cola Company’s experiential marketing group to create pirate-themed “Labadee Luc’s Splash Bash” for children and families to enjoy. The Vortex Splashpad, featuring an eco-friendly recirculation system, offers engaging and exciting features for the whole family. Ground geysers, toppling water buckets and water archways let children splash and play while pirates-in-training can stage mock battles with water cannons mounted on the pirate ship. A separate, special play area designed for children ages 3 to 5 is complete with dams, water wheels, and other unique features to captivate younger children.

This Splashpad was created as a pay-for-play, revenue-generating, and brand-building attraction for Royal Caribbean and Coca-Cola. CRS consulted in all phases, provided the water features and water drainage system, as well as provided construction services and staff to ensure proper installation at this remote island location.
