Case Study: Buffalo Commons

Buffalo, Minnesota

As part of a comprehensive enhancement project, the City of Buffalo was looking to improve its downtown area know as Buffalo Commons. The plan included enhanced pedestrian crossings, reorganized parking, shade trees, lawn and plaza areas with ample seating, and linear, interactive fountain elements that would help strengthen the connection between the lake and dock area with the farmers market that was held in the area.

City officials turned to Commercial Recreation Specialists to help design and install an interactive Splashpad that would function as an interactive fountain area through the use of a variety of ground sprays to create an engaging water feature for families and children of all ages and abilities to enjoy. To further enhance the area, benches and trash receptacles were added to provide more convenience and comfort for the public using this new feature.

Its ideal downtown location puts this Splashpad within walking distance from the farmers market and local businesses, making it the perfect summer spot for the whole family to come and enjoy all that the area has to offer.
