Get your Splashpad Ready for Winter and a Hassle-free Opening Day

As the summer season draws to a close, it’s hard to believe how quickly time has flown. Are you prepared to winterize your Splashpad® properly? Performing seasonal maintenance on your Splashpad is essential to prevent unnecessary repairs and significantly prolong the lifespan of your investment.

Follow these steps to ensure the proper winterization of your Water Management System, Water Features, and Elevations, so you can look forward to a seamless opening day next year…. 

Water Management System:

  • Follow the Winterization Procedure found in your Vortex Owner Operator Manual
  • Fully drain the Water Quality Management System
  • Clean Pump and Y strainer baskets are
  • Check if strainer mesh needs replacing
  • Clean and empty the water containment reservoir
  • Empty chemical reservoirs and dispose of chemicals correctly
  • Remove, clean and properly store chemical probes
  • Drain and clean sand filter
  • Shut off main water supply
  • Fully drain manifold and open drain valves
  • Turn off main electrical supply
  • Clean debris trap and set in the storm/sanitary position
  • Clean deck drains

Water Features:

  • Drain all feature lines
  • Inspect all feature hardware and tighten or replace as necessary
  • Remove and clean all spray nozzles. Replace any with worn or damaged threads
  • Install all winter caps where applicable
  • Inspect all static and rotational joints for worn parts. Grease and replace parts as necessary
  • Inspect all product accessories (Seeflow, Dumping Bells, ETC…) for any damage and replace where necessary
  • Thoroughly clean all features of any hard water deposits and surface deficiencies

Elevations Structure:

  • Drain all posts, lines, and accessories
  • Inspect all hardware and tighten or replace as necessary
  • Inspect all netting, zippers and locks and replace as necessary
  • Inspect all slides and repair as necessary
  • Clean entire structure removing any hard water deposits and surface deficiencies
  • Inspect all static or rotational joints for worn parts and grease and replace as necessary
  • Inspect all product accessories (Seeflow, Dumping Bells, Etc…) for any damage and replace where necessary
  • Drain all manifolds
