Nestled within 150 acres of pristine wilderness in Wisconsin Dells, Land of Natura is a unique adventure park that reconnects visitors with the natural beauty of the region. Launched in mid-June 2023 by brothers Adam, Rich, and Dave Makowski, this back-to-nature experience features one of the largest floating aqua park in North America, complete with the towering Mountain and the newly introduced Peakz.

The park offers a blend of thrill and tranquility with attractions like 60-foot inflatable water slides, fleets of kayaks and SUPs, floating cabanas, and a suspended treetop bridge. The Makowski brothers envisioned Land of Natura as a destination that would evoke the same wonder and connection to nature that first drew visitors to Wisconsin Dells over 150 years ago. They partnered with Commercial Recreation Specialists (CRS) to evaluate the site’s underutilized assets and design recreation areas that would highlight the park’s natural beauty.

CRS Recreation Specialist, Bill Spencer, played a key role in configuring the thrilling floating obstacle course that serves as the park’s centerpiece. Additionally, the Design Studio by CRS, brought this vision to life through site diagrams, CAD drawings and more.

One of the standout features of Land of Natura is its innovative water filtration system. Rather than relying on chemicals, the park’s man-made lake is naturally filtered using the principles of a wetland bog. Stones, aggregates, and plants work together to keep the water clean and safe, ensuring a sustainable and eco-friendly environment for visitors.

This design aligns with the park’s broader commitment to environmental stewardship, as the surrounding 2,000 feet of river shoreline, bluff outcroppings, woodlands, marsh, prairie, and unglaciated rolling topography are all part of a designated State Nature Conservancy. This designation helps protect the area’s wildlife habitat and biological diversity, reinforcing the park’s message to visitors about the importance of preservation.

“[She] may have said the greatest words any child can say for anyone that is in our industry! That really takes our creation to the level we had only dreamed it would become,” said Adam Makowski, Co-Founder of Natura Development.

Land of Natura’s innovative approach has not gone unnoticed. Robert Cirjak, founder of Wibit Sports, traveled from Bocholt, Germany, to present the park with an award for being the largest floating aqua park in North America in 2023 on the largest naturally filtered man-made lake. This accolade is a testament to the Makowski brothers’ vision and the expert execution by CRS.

In just its first nine weeks of operation, Land of Natura welcomed 66,845 visitors, quickly becoming a favorite destination in Wisconsin Dells, a region known as the waterpark capital of the world. Unlike traditional waterparks, which are often characterized by concrete and chlorinated water, Land of Natura offers a refreshing alternative where thrills are found in a natural and sustainable environment.

Land of Natura is more than just a park; it is a testament to the power of nature, sustainability, and thoughtful design. By blending thrilling attractions with a deep respect for the environment, the Makowski brothers have created a destination that not only entertains but also educates and inspires.
