Splash Pad Winterization
Properly winterizing your Splashpad is the key to avoiding unnecessary repairs and prolonging the life of your investment. Below, we break down the primary steps for your Water Management System, Water Features, and Elevation Structures, ensuring a smooth reopening day when the warmer months return.
Water Management System:
Protecting your Water Management System is the first step in winterizing your splashpad. By thoroughly draining, cleaning, and storing its components, you’ll reduce the likelihood of damage and ensure a smoother start-up when warmer weather returns.
Here’s what to do in order to winterize your water management system:
- Follow the Winterization Procedure in your Vortex Owner Operator Manual.
- Drain the Water Quality Management System completely.
- Clean pump and Y strainer baskets; check if the mesh needs replacing.
- Clean and empty the water containment reservoir.
- Empty chemical reservoirs and dispose of chemicals properly.
- Remove, clean, and store chemical probes.
- Drain and clean the sand filter.
- Shut off the main water supply and fully drain the manifold.
- Turn off the main electrical supply and clean the debris trap.
- Clean deck drains thoroughly.
H3: Water Features:
Once the Water Management System is taken care of, focus on the water features themselves. Proper care of nozzles and hardware keeps your splash pad running efficiently and looking great next season.
Follow these steps to winterize your Splashpad’s water features:
- Drain all feature lines.
- Inspect hardware and tighten or replace as needed.
- Remove, clean, and store spray nozzles; replace worn or damaged ones.
- Install winter caps where applicable.
- Check static and rotational joints for wear and lubricate or replace as necessary.
- Inspect and repair product accessories such as Seeflow and Dumping Bells.
- Clean hard water deposits and surface imperfections from all features.
Elevation Structures:
Elevation Structures require a thorough inspection to maintain safety and functionality. Careful cleaning and maintenance now means fewer hassles when reopening day comes around.
When inspecting elevation structure, make sure to:
- Drain all posts, lines, and accessories.
- Inspect hardware, tighten or replace where necessary.
- Inspect netting, zippers, locks, and slides for damage and repair as needed.
- Clean the entire structure, removing any hard water deposits and surface issues.
- Lubricate static or rotational joints and replace worn parts.
- Drain all manifolds.
Seasonal maintenance of your waterfront inflatables will help you avoid unnecessary repairs & significantly extend the life of your investment. Take the time now to properly prepare your inflatables for winter and ensure a trouble-free opening day!
