Case Study: Cherrystone Family Camping Resort

Everything and more. Established in 1964, Cherrystone Family Camping Resort is a cornerstone of the Chesapeake Bay area, offering a full range of daily activities and amenities.

Over the years, it became increasingly evident that a replacement was needed for their outdated mini golf course. Upon completely demolishing the existing course and leveling the grounds, camp officials turned to Commercial Recreation Specialists (CRS) to come up with a low-maintenance solution that would blend in with the facility’s natural surroundings. CRS designed the course using all natural concrete with rock additions for minimal maintenance. Its low-profile design ensures little visual obstructions of the natural views of the Chesapeake Bay and surrounding woods.

Additionally, camp officials wanted to dedicate the new course as a tribute for a past general manager who sadly lost her battle with breast cancer. CRS searched high and low to find pink carpet to be incorporated into the first hole, along with a large breast cancer ribbon accent. Camp officials were very pleased with how the memorial turned out. General Manager Melissa Long exclaims,

“Our experience with CRS was outstanding from the beginning of the project to the completion and any issues that arose afterwards. Rich and his team were a joy to work with and it was amazing how CRS transformed the course into one that our guests love! We have heard nothing but compliments this season from new and returning guests. We greatly appreciate what CRS was able to do to get us what we were looking for.”
