Case Study: Virginia Beach KOA Holiday®

Making outdoor fun and adventure easy—that’s the motto at Virginia Beach KOA Holiday®. With the Atlantic Ocean beaches, Chesapeake Bay and iconic three-mile Boardwalk just minutes away, its location alone has plenty to offer camp goers. But the owners were looking to add more variety to their activity offerings in their goal to provide the best camping experience possible.

Camp officials turned to Commercial Recreation Specialists (CRS) to come up with a family-friendly and budget-savvy solution. To enhance programming and engage guests while keeping budget in mind, CRS incorporated Prime Pedal Karts as part of the camp’s current bike and golf cart rentals. Prime Karts are a family-friendly amenity that caters to all ages. With three different styles and sizes—XL 4 “Charger”, Turbo and Racer—Prime Karts are exciting for both children and adults alike.

In addition to their heavy duty construction (making them ideal for frequent commercial rental use), Prime Karts also come with an option to choose custom graphics. CRS designed special decals for each kart, further solidifying and advancing the KOA brand. Now anywhere guests ride, the KOA brand follows!

According to owner Barb Stachurski, the pedal karts have been very successful. They rent the karts from April to September, with the peak months being June and July. In 2018, the karts were rented over 1,000 times and grossed sales of nearly $10,000!
